Story of an Italian style legend

It was the year 1959, when the Argentine racer Alejandro De Tomaso came to Modena to challenge Ferrari and Maserati, with the collaboration of great Piedmontese designers such as Fissore, Giugiaro and Vignale. The first car produced was the famous Vallelunga, a Gran Turismo coupé with a great aesthetic impact. In the following years, the Mangusta was born, made by the Ghia body shop based on a design by Giugiaro.
The car marked the beginning of the collaboration with Ford America, with the supply of the powerful 8-cylinder V engines that allowed De Tomaso to compete with the other Italian supercars of the time, in particular Ferrari and Lamborghini. The legendary Panther succeeded the Mangusta and gave the company an international prestige.
The oil crisis marked the decline of this model on the US market, but the unstoppable De Tomaso had already invented a new segment for the time, that of the production of ultra-high-performance luxury sedans. It happened after de Tomaso's acquisition of the Maserati brand, fresh from the Quattroporte project.
Thus the Logchamp and Deauville sedans were born, characterized, like all the De Tomaso production, by a design of rare charm. Simultaneously with the production of luxury sedans, from 1976 to 1990, with a brilliant anticipation of the times, De Tomaso created the first city car with sports performance, the Mini De Tomaso. From 1993 to 2004 the Guarà was produced, with a Ford V8 engine in three body variants: barchetta, coupé and spyder.
The latest version of the Deauville super sedan was presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, in a modern crossover style.
The De Tomaso projects envisage the production of new exclusive high-end and high-performance models, in harmony with the sporting tradition of this prestigious car brand. An example of style intended for connoisseurs of Italian design and superior Italian quality that today we also find in the new reading glasses and sunglasses by De Tomaso. The Italian Legend continues. And it is renewed ...
