The Story of a Legend of Italian Style

It was 1959 when the Argentine Alejandro De Tomaso, a bold driver and visionary entrepreneur, arrived in Modena to challenge the giants of motoring such as Ferrari and Maserati. Collaborating with masters of Piedmontese design such as Fissore, Giugiaro and Vignale, he laid the foundations for a brand that would mark the history of Italian style and technology.

The first creation, the Vallelunga, was a Gran Turismo coupé that won over with its elegance and aesthetic impact. But it was with the Mangusta, designed by Giugiaro and built by the Ghia body shop, that De Tomaso wrote a memorable page in his epic. Equipped with powerful V8 engines supplied by Ford America, the Mangusta not only competed on equal terms with Ferrari and Lamborghini, but inaugurated a prestigious transatlantic collaboration. This was followed by the legendary Pantera, which established the brand internationally.

The advent of the oil crisis affected Pantera sales in the United States, but Alejandro De Tomaso once again demonstrated his genius. By acquiring Maserati, he reinvented the segment of high-performance luxury sedans. This gave rise to models such as the Longchamp and the Deauville, characterised by a refined and unmistakable design, a symbol of Italian excellence.

Not just sedans: between 1976 and 1990, De Tomaso was ahead of its time with the Mini De Tomaso, the first city car with sporty performance. In the following years, the Guarà arrived, a sports car powered by a Ford V8 engine, offered in three versions: barchetta, coupé and spyder.

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the brand presented a new interpretation of the Deauville, transforming it into a modern crossover sedan, a sign of continuous evolution and capacity for innovation.

Today, the sporting tradition and timeless style of De Tomaso live on in new exclusive projects, designed for lovers of Italian design and superior quality. Among these, highly elegant accessories also stand out, such as reading glasses and sunglasses signed De Tomaso.
